Team Race Hard, Race Ugly wins LeMons

Our 24 Hours of LeMons team, Race Hard, Race Ugly, after four trys, finally hit pay dirt yesterday with an outstanding performance at the Yee-Haw It's LeMons Texas event at MSR-Houston. We have been running two almost identical cars for almost a year now and have had several mechanical issues over the year conspiring to keep us competiting as an 'also ran'. Our first car, known as 'The Beast" was driven by John Bibaeff, Keith Wicker, Brent Mosing and Benson Young had fuel delivery issues Saturday giving us declining performance as the day went on, but we kept it on the track (try 2800 rpm in 5th gear - I couldn't even catch the VW Beetle) to make laps and came in a respectable 11th for the day. That evening we changed the dirty fuel sock in the tank and filter under the car to get her back to full speed and other than a few black flags were both Keith and John both had to be reminded what the purpose of the yellow flag is, made progress all day and finished the day in Benson's hands with a 5th place final result (with the 'low fuel' light on for the last 12 laps). The second car, known as "Sista" was driven by Steve Lyon, Josh LeBlanc, Tim Spencer and Alex Ardoin had a good clean run on Saturday, closing the day in 2nd place and other than a bump resulting in a busted tire on Sunday (which Alex handled in perfect fashon, in and out of the pits as only a pro would) had a outsanding finish with the overall win!

Interesting to note that our bunkmates from Lafayette, team GT$500 Celica (who won the Louisiana event earlier this year) came in 2nd, making 3 of the top 5 spots belonging to Lafayette based teams. Special thanks goes to Brian Thibodeaux and Chris Shoalmire who stepped in and became our fueling crew, giving the drivers a chance to focus on other issues. Also, thanks to Donna Lyon and Susan Bibaeff who provided the race support / driver fuel (aka food) for us over the weekend and Brent Mosing for allowing us such a fantastic location to call race central.
